New Jeep Pickup? It’s Not a Dream | John Hirsch’s Cambridge Motors.

It’s finally happening. Last week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit Jeep officials confirmed a Jeep pickup truck is headed towards production.

Jeep enthusiast everywhere rejoiced when the rumor was officially confirmed by Michael Manley, Head of the Jeep brand for FCA, and then later FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne. The brand, who has been teasing fans with concepts of Jeep pickups for years now had no concept models to unveil nor revealed any details of the upcoming and unnamed Jeep pickup, but that didn’t stop fans from practically breaking the internet with the news.

Quickly rising to top trending topic on Facebook the day of the announcement, Jeep lovers everywhere began guessing which of the brand’s concept model the final production model would most closely resemble. The clear front-runner of the bunch, and our personal favorite, was the 2005 Jeep Gladiator concept (pictured above).

The Gladiator concept sits on the platform of a Wrangler, which would coincide perfectly with the upcoming next generation Wrangler. The Gladiator has a 5-foot-8-inch bed with a midgate that allows you to increase the bed length by a full foot. Powered by a turbodiesel 2.8-liter four-cylinder engine and a five-speed manual transmission, the Gladiator concept is also equipped with available part-time four-wheel drive.

Since no official details have been released about the Jeep pickup, a release date is anyone’s guess. Based on the vehicle’s the brand currently has in development the earliest fans should expect the Jeep pickup is 2019.
